Reading Programs and Challenges
Now hosting two programs every year (winter and summer) for Youth (birth through 19) and for Adults.
Youth Reading Programs
Youth Winter Reading Program
Open to all registered library patrons ages birth to 19, participants are asked to read at least 20 minutes every day during the month of February.
A reading chart is sent to each participant. To be eligible for the grand prize, just mark the chart for each day you read at least 20 minutes and return the completed chart to SD BTBL at the beginning of March.
Youth Summer Reading Program
Open to all registered library patrons ages birth to 19, Participants are asked to read at least 20 minutes every day for eight weeks during June and July.
A reading chart is sent to each participant. To be eligible for the grand prize, just mark the chart for each day you read at least 20 minutes and return the completed chart to SD BTBL at the beginning of August.
Senior High students can also participate in the Adult Summer Reading Challenges.
Adult Reading Challenges
The Adult Reading Challenges are held in Winter and Summer.
Interested readers contact their reader advisor to sign up to receive a customized Adult Reading Challenge cartridge with books from various genres. This is a chance to try something new and maybe discover a different author. Participants answer one question per book and a prize drawing is held at the end of the program.
