Historical governors' messages available online from State Library
PIERRE, S.D. — The South Dakota State Library recently added a collection of governors' messages to the library's Digital Collections site. The governors' messages collection includes inaugural, state of the state, and special session messages from as far back as 1890. All of the messages are text searchable and text readable for visually impaired readers.
The messages are accessible by visiting the South Dakota State Library Digital Collections website at http://cdm16384.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm/ and clicking the link to "Governors' Messages (Inaugural, State of the State, Special Session)," or by searching the library catalog. Collections on this site include historical as well as current state agency digital publications. Items are added regularly.
"Our digital collections reflect the history and culture of South Dakota. They are a valuable resource available to all of our citizens, but specifically to researchers both in-state and around the world," said Daria Bossman, South Dakota state librarian. "These documents are available 24/7 online and mark a new era in historical access and preservation."
The South Dakota State Library is a division of the Department of Education. Call 1-800-423-6665 or visit library.sd.gov for more information.
