Courier Services and/or MINITEX Node

Criteria for South Dakota libraries to participate in the Courier Service in South Dakota and/or be a MINITEX Node in South Dakota

The Requesting Library must contact the State Library to establish either Courier Service or MINITEX node status.

For courier service:
The State Library will coordinate the courier exclusively via MINITEX's Document Delivery Program.

Criteria for the Requesting Library prior to qualify for Courier Service:
  1. The Requesting Library must agree to share its materials with other South Dakota libraries.
  2. The Requesting Library must agree to abide by the "South Dakota Interlibrary Loan Code" (currently in the 2001 edition at http://www.sdstatelibrary.com/forlibrarians/laws/ILL.htm)
  3. The Requesting Library must list its holdings on SDLN and/or OCLC. If some other union listing service is used that is freely available to other South Dakota Courier/MINITEX-Node libraries (such as MULS for serials), the requesting library will specify where the listing is located.
  4. The Requesting Library will supply statistics that demonstrate sharing of its library materials in the past (such as from SDLN and/or OCLC).
  5. The Requesting Library must agree to complete and provide to the State Library the following monthly reports:

For MINITEX Node status:
The library must meet all of the above courier criteria. In addition, the library must agree to provide free loan of its materials and free photocopy of its materials (from 1 to 50 pages per request would be free) to SD libraries and to MINITEX libraries in response to MINITEX requests.
