Criteria for South Dakota libraries to participate in the Courier Service in South Dakota and/or be a MINITEX Node in South Dakota
The Requesting Library must contact the State Library to establish either Courier Service or MINITEX node status.
For courier service:
The State Library will coordinate the courier exclusively via MINITEX's Document Delivery Program.
Criteria for the Requesting Library prior to qualify for Courier Service:
- The Requesting Library must agree to share its materials with other South Dakota libraries.
- The Requesting Library must agree to abide by the "South Dakota Interlibrary Loan Code" (currently in the 2001 edition at http://www.sdstatelibrary.com/forlibrarians/laws/ILL.htm)
- The Requesting Library must list its holdings on SDLN and/or OCLC. If some other union listing service is used that is freely available to other South Dakota Courier/MINITEX-Node libraries (such as MULS for serials), the requesting library will specify where the listing is located.
- The Requesting Library will supply statistics that demonstrate sharing of its library materials in the past (such as from SDLN and/or OCLC).
- The Requesting Library must agree to complete and provide to the State Library the following monthly reports:
For MINITEX Node status:
The library must meet all of the above courier criteria. In addition, the library must agree to provide free loan of its materials and free photocopy of its materials (from 1 to 50 pages per request would be free) to SD libraries and to MINITEX libraries in response to MINITEX requests.
