Description:
Selecting and implementing an automated library system is a time consuming and expensive process. This course will introduce you to the basic steps in planning for an automated library system. The focus of this course is small public and school libraries who are automating for the very first time.

This is a self-paced course that will take approximately 1 – 2 hours to complete. The course may be completed in one session or in parts.

Who would Benefit From This Course:
Librarians in small (less then 10,000 items) public and school libraries that have not automated.

Upon completion of this course, participants should be:
  • Familiar with the basic concepts and components of automated library systems
  • Able to identify and address the automation needs of the library users and staff
  • Familiar with the stages in the process to plan, manage, and implement a sustainable library automation project.
