Pushing Out the Walls: Expanding Resources For Your Community
An Introduction to the SD State Library Statewide Electronic Resources

This will be a hands-on introduction to the Statewide Electronic Resources provided for your patrons by the South Dakota State Library. You will have an opportunity to learn about each resource, hear examples of how you can use it to help your patrons and learn how these resources expand your public library’s collections.

Resources covered include:
  • Magazines and Newspapers including Proquest, SIRS Researcher and Discoverer, and Newsbank
  • Instant scored practice exams via Learning Express
  • Online books and reference books via Gale Virtual Reference Library and NetLibrary
  • Finding books (and Dewey numbers) via WorldCat
  • Genealogy Resources including Ancestry Library and Heritage Quest.
Cost: FREE
Drinks and snacks are not provided and lunch is on your own

Who should attend:
  • Public library staff and trustees are the primary audience
  • Staff of other types of libraries welcome
