Help combat the summer reading slump

Most of you are done or almost done with your summer reading programs. To keep your young patrons involved in learning (even though they probably don’t realize they are learning) through the rest of the summer, is offering free access to their educational game Web site for the summer. As an added bonus, for every child that signs up this summer, your organization will receive that many free accounts during the school year.

Presentation of any particular curriculum does not constitute endorsement, approval or recommendation for adoption of that curriculum by the State of South Dakota or the South Dakota Department of Education and its offices.

Reaching non-English speaking children and families

The International Children’s Digital Library offers free access to over 4,000 books on their Web site – no downloading required. The Library has books in 54 languages including English, Spanish, Arabic, Persian, Chinese (simplified & traditional), French, Mongolian, Croatian, Portuguese, Hebrew, German, Filipino, Russian, Thai and Italian. Many books are bi-lingual as well. If you have any immigrant populations in your area, let them know about this wonderful resource.

Free audiobooks for teens available July 1
