Common Core Literacy Lessons registration extended to Nov. 15
The registration deadline for the Common Core Literacy Lessons course has been extended to Nov. 15. The first webinar will now be on Nov. 22. Those who register for graduate credit may also use the course as a methods course towards the 18-hour school library media endorsement.
Over a series of six webinars teams of school librarians and K-12 classroom teachers will learn more about the Common Core State Standards for Literacy and the new SD School Library Standards. They will also learn how to adapt an existing lesson, or develop a new one, that integrates reading strategies and resources to increase cognitive demand and promote student engagement.
Monthly webinars will take place via LiveMeeting on Nov. 22, Dec. 20, Jan. 31, Feb. 28, March 27, April 24 – all at 4:30 CT; 3:30 MT. Additional virtual discussions and activities will take place between webinars. Live attendance at the Nov. 22 webinar is mandatory. Archived attendance in other webinars is available at a reduced grade.
Attendees may opt for two graduate credits or two continuing education units. There is no travel required. Graduate credit through USD costs $80. Follow the links to register:
