Common Core Literacy Lessons — Collaborating and Creating Webinar Series
Puzzled about all of those new standards you’ve been hearing about? Here's a great way to find answers to your questions!
School librarians and K-12 classroom teachers are invited to partner up to learn more about the Common Core State Standards for Literacy and the new SD School Library Standards.
Over a series of seven webinars teams will learn how to adapt an existing lesson, or develop a new one, that integrates reading strategies and resources to increase cognitive demand and promote student engagement.
Monthly webinars will take place via LiveMeeting on Oct. 25, Nov. 22, Dec. 20, Jan. 31, Feb. 28, March 27, April 24 – all at 4:30 CT; 3:30 MT. Additional virtual discussions and activities will take place between webinars. Live attendance at the October 25 webinar is mandatory. Archived attendance in other webinars is available at a reduced grade.
Attendees may opt for two graduate credits or two continuing education units. There is no travel required. The series is sponsored by the Office of Curriculum, Career and Technical Education, the State Library and the University of South Dakota, Division of Continuing and Distance Education.
The same requirements are expected for those participating for graduate credit or continuing education units. Review the course syllabus for further details.
Graduate credit through USD costs $80. Follow the respective link below to register:
