Seize the day with storytime

A top priority for all librarians is life-long literacy, but what about life-infused literacy? Any time there is a gathering of children, inside or outside of the library, seize that opportunity to do storytime! A birthday party is just one of those opportunities. If you are invited to a child's birthday party, ask the family if you could read one book that goes along with the theme of the party. Definitely work it in to your own child's party in some way.

Here is an example: for a little girl's pink themed party, read the book Pinkalicious by Victoria Kann, or for a little boy's superhero themed party read Eliot Jones, Midnight Superhero by Anne Cottringer.

Exciting new summer reading opportunity for partner schools and nonprofits*

The CSLP is proud to announce a new partnership opportunity. Recently we heard from you, our public library members, that there was a need to allow our school and non-profit partners the opportunity to purchase materials to help promote your summer reading program. Here is the 2013 School/Nonprofit Partner catalog.

Partners may call, fax or mail their orders in to Highsmith/Upstart; they will not be able to place the order online. You may only distribute this order form to your partners, not the full catalog you received with your summer reading program manual.

*Only those schools and nonprofits partnered with a public library may purchase these materials.
