Gregory Public Library has new teen advisory board
Five area youth joined the newly formed Teen Advisory Board (TAB) of the Gregory Public Library in May and made a one year commitment to serve. As board members, they give input on program ideas, book selection and other materials for teens. During their monthly meetings, TAB members learn leadership skills, train in electronic resources, and provide volunteer service to the library for various projects. These teens also work to promote library services and programs within the community. Board members include Ashley Meyer, Jacey Feyereisen, Hannah Juracek, Mackenzie Feyereisen and Danika Ulrich.

Prairie Bud and Prairie Pasque reading starts today!
The 2012-2013 Prairie Bud and Prairie Pasque state book award program is ready to go for grades K-5 students, teachers and librarians. Sponsored by the South Dakota Library Association, the contest features two lists of 16 nominated titles. The Prairie Bud list is designed for students in grades K-2 and Prairie Pasque is for grades 3-5. Voting, done online only, begins after Jan.1 and concludes by March 31.
Students are encouraged to read and vote for their one favorite book of the year from the master lists compiled by a committee of educators and librarians. The books receiving the most votes from students win the awards, which will be announced during National Library Week in April. You'll find more details about contest guidelines and the complete booklists at library.sd.gov.
