It's never too early to start planning your professional development calendar for 2013-2014. Here's some brief information on three events you will want to attend:

  • Sept. 25-27: The 2013 Tri-Conference: SDLA, NDLA, MPLA is a joint library conference being held in Sioux Falls. This is a great opportunity to meet authors, talk with exhibitors and share with colleagues.

  • Sept. 29-Oct. 1: The Indian Education Summit at Cedar Shore Resort in Oacoma will begin with a free Library Pre-Conference on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 1:00-4:00. Joan Upell will present multiple literacy strategies using the Common Core State Standards. All librarians and library paraprofessional are welcome to attend and are encouraged to register for the entire summit event too.

  • Dec. 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12: School Library Regional Meetings will be held in six locations across the state, TBA. Preliminary topics will include eBooks and other emerging technologies. Contact Joan Upell if you would like to volunteer your library as a meeting space.
