ShaZam! Multiple Literacies in the 21st Century School Library: School Library Boot Camp 2013
The second annual School Library Boot Camp: ShaZam! Multiple Literacies in the 21st Century School Library was held on the campus of the University of South Dakota on July 21-24. School librarians and paraprofessionals from across the state communicated, collaborated and created as they learned about best practices for their students and programs.
Coordinated by the State Library in conjunction with USD, Boot Camp is a two credit course for undergraduate and graduate students. Credits may be used toward certificate renewal and/or the school library certificate endorsement.
Common Core Literacy and the School Library: Indian Education Summit Pre-Conference Event, Sept. 29
Looking for new ways to reach your students as readers of text in all formats? Join your school library colleagues to collaborate and share ideas as you explore multiple literacy strategies using the Common Core State Standards.
Hosted by the South Dakota State Library Development Services, this event is in conjunction with the South Dakota Indian Education Summit (IES) held at Cedar Shore Resort in Chamberlain. The pre-conference takes place on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 1:00-4:00 pm local time.
This no-cost pre-conference for librarians, library aides and administrators is a great time to ask questions and get information about school libraries and their role in South Dakota. Plan to attend this unique training opportunity and then stay for the rest of the conference.
Questions? Please contact Kathleen Slocum, email, 800/423-6665, State Library CE Coordinator.
