SIRS Issues Researcher, the full-text, online magazine and newspaper database for middle school and up, has added six new Leading Issues:

  • Energy policy
  • Energy conservation
  • Keystone Pipeline
  • Helicopter parents
  • Syria
  • Iran

Check out the pros and cons, timelines, statistics and more information about these and other Leading Issues.

SIRS Discoverer, the full-text, online magazine and newspaper database for elementary and middle school, now contains non-fiction books to support curriculum and inform curious children. The books include well-known publishers such as DK Eyewitness and Weekly Reader, in these categories: animals, arts and humanities, biographies, curriculum activities, environment, health and human body, history and government, science, sports and technology. The books are pdf, which allows for saving, printing and downloading.

To guide beginning researchers, SIRS Discover has added the interactive iThink Skills Tutor.

These new features plus the articles and other special features make a one-stop learning center for kindergarten through ninth grades.

Learning Express, the practice test and academic success program for fourth grade through adults, will soon have a whole new look, and an updated GED practice test is coming in 2014. Watch for more information.

These resources are available from the Online Resources on the State Library website. They are directly available within the library and on school and academic campuses. They are available from home with barcode and password.
