SD State Library hits the road with digital documents & e-resources: Librarians, trustees and the public are invited

Interested in fishing, pheasant and mountain lion studies? Office of Tourism annual reports? Governor's budget? The SD State Library is making it easier than ever to find state government publications online. You can search for a state government report via the statewide library catalog just like you would search for a book or video. Find out how with Brenda Hemmelman.

Where can you find magazine and newspaper articles, practice tests and job seeking information, genealogy programs, and encyclopedias—for free? The State Library brings these and more to your fingertips with its online resources. Learn more in an introduction to State Library e-resources with Jane Healy or Julie Erickson.

Librarians, trustees and the public are invited! Find a convenient place and time to attend:

  • Tuesday, September 10, 10 am - A.H. Brown Library, Mobridge
  • Tuesday, September 10, 3 pm - Watertown Regional Library
  • Wednesday, September 11,10 am - SDSU Briggs Library
  • Wednesday, September 11, 7 pm - Brookings Public Library
  • Thursday, September 12, 2 pm - Sioux Falls Ronning Branch
  • Thursday, September 12, 7 pm - Vermillion Public Library
  • Friday, September 13,10 am - Oacoma Community Center, Chamberlain

Each session will be approximately two hours long. Two contact hours of continuing credit will be offered.

If you have questions, contact Brenda Hemmelman [email].

2013 Indian Education Summit Pre-Conference Event is Sept. 29

There's still time to register for the free IES Pre-Conference event "Indian Education Summit 2013Common Core Literacy and the School Library." School Library Coordinators Marta Stirling and Joan Upell will present new ways to reach your students as readers of text in all formats during this 1:00-4:00 session on Sept. 29, 2013.

It is also a great time to ask questions and get information about school libraries and their role in South Dakota. Plan to attend this unique training opportunity at Cedar Shore and then stay for the rest of the conference!

Register for the pre-conference only. Participants will earn three hours of CE credit.

Questions? Contact Kathleen Slocum [email], CE Coordinator, or Joan Upell [email], School Library Coordinator.

Coming up online, Oct. 16
