"Digging Deeper into Primary Sources," a free online learning opportunity available on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. CT, focuses on finding and using primary sources in the classroom. Though the primary audience is K-12 teachers, librarians, trustees, historians and genealogists are encouraged to attend. Participants may attend the entire day or a session or two as their schedules and interest allow.

Sponsored by the SD State Library with a grant from Teaching Primary Sources, Library of Congress, this program features speakers Dr. Peggy O'Neill-Jones, director of the Teaching Primary Sources Teachers Network utilizing the Library of Congress; Glenn Wiebe, teacher and social studies consultant for ESSDACK in KS; and, Jean Patrick, SD author.

In addition, representatives from the SD Discovery Center, USD, SDSU, SD Historical Society, SD Game Fish and Parks, Black Hills Knowledge Network, and the SD State Library will present strategies for finding and using state and regional primary sources. For more information and to register, go to library.sd.gov.
