State Library e-resources are every hero's secret weapon



State Library e-resources are every hero's secret weapon

Use State Library E-Resources to supplement your summer reading program. Here are some special features to remember:

  • Tumblebook Library contains animated, talking picture books, short videos, and chapter books for grades K-3, complete with Lexile and AR reading levels and grade levels. Search for "hero" and find many titles to augment this summer's "Every Story Has a Hero" theme.
  • SIRS Discoverer's Nonfiction Books, found under "Database Features," includes historical and contemporary biographies.
  • World Book and Gale Virtual Reference Library help patrons find articles about their heroes. Discover a family hero in genealogy e-resources AncestryLibrary (in library or school only) and HeritageQuest.

These and other e-resources are available from Online Resources on the State Library website. They are directly available within the library and on school and academic campuses and, except for AncestryLibrary, are available from home with barcode and password. New practices tests, eBooks, and more added to Learning Express

Learning Express Library now offers a fully optimized experience on any size screen or device and a new, quicker, more comprehensive advanced search engine.

The thirteen new practice tests include newly updated electrician's licensing practice tests, Praxis Core® practice tests, and updated practice tests for the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) exam. In addition, the College Preparation Center now has two Advanced Placement (AP) Psychology practice exams.

Four new "Flash Review" guides for the GED® test and new editions of "ASVAB Success", "ASVAB Power Practice," "Police Officer Exam," and "Critical Thinking Skills in 20 Minutes a Day" are the latest additions to the growing eBook collection.

Thirty-six new resources, aligned to the Common Core State Standards, have been added to the School Center. They include tutorials for middle school students and parents and tutorials and practice tests for high school students.
