Faith Public/School librarian receives Distinguished Achievement in the Humanities Award

Faith Public/School Library Supervisor Angela Ostrander awarded an Distinguished Achievement in the Humanities Award at the South Dakota Humanities Council Annual Awards Ceremony at the Deadwood Mountain Grand on Saturday, September 26.

Faith Public/School Library Supervisor Angela Ostrander was one of the four recipients for the Distinguished Achievement in the Humanities Award at the South Dakota Humanities Council Annual Awards Ceremony at the Deadwood Mountain Grand on Saturday, September 26. For ten years, she has served as supervisor for the Faith Public/School Library, a combined school and public facility that serves 421 individuals, 37 staff and 193 students in a 60-mile radius of the rural town of Faith. Part of her success lies in the summer reading programs, book fairs and the K-6th grade library skills classes.

The South Dakota Humanities Council recognizes the Distinguished Achievement in the Humanities honorees for their outstanding support of the humanities in South Dakota. The honorees present and host engaging events and programs, compose important books or publications about the humanities, and provide essential funding or partnerships to sustain a vibrant cultural landscape in South Dakota. The individuals and groups we (SDHC) honor with this award each year demonstrate a commitment to scholarly and cultural advocacy statewide.
