"Digging Deeper into Primary Sources 2" offers resources for classroom & personal use

Digging Deeper Two event

"Digging Deeper into Primary Sources 2," a free online learning opportunity available on Friday, November 20, 2015 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. CT, focuses on finding and using primary sources in the classroom. Though the target audience is K-12 teachers, librarians, trustees, historians and genealogists are encouraged to attend. Participants may attend all three sessions or whatever their schedules and interest allow.

Sponsored by the SD State Library with a grant from Teaching Primary Sources, Library of Congress, this program features these sessions and speakers:

  • "Engage your Students using Inquiry and Resources from the Library of Congress" by Keith Patterson, Project Coordinator, Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources
  • "Thinking Historically: Strategies for Integrating Evidence" by Glenn Wiebe, ESSDACK Social Studies Consultant, Teacher
  • "Listening to the Elders" Dr. Scott Simpson, Learning Specialist, TIE

For more information and to register, go to library.sd.gov.

This opportunity follows the popular "Digging Deeper into Primary Sources" online learning day held in March. You can access the archives at library.sd.gov.
