YARP voting opens this month

Voting begins during Teen Read Week (October 18 - 24) and runs through April 1. Teens can read from either the middle school or high school list and vote for any and every book they read. We even have a QR code that you can place directly in or on the books from the list so teens can vote on their mobile devices instantly after finishing a book! For more information on the voting process or to print off some promotional graphics, visit the official website. Please emphasize to your teens that they should only rate one title per vote—every title should have its own entry. Many of the books on both lists are also available in South Dakota Titles to Go!

Read for the Record®

Read for the record campaign

On Oct. 22nd, your community has a unique opportunity to join with thousands of others around the country to read the same book to as many children as possible for Jumpstart's Read for the Record®. This year the selected title is "Not Norman: A Goldfish Story" by Kelly Bennett. Show your support for this national literacy campaign by registering your special program today! We encourage libraries of all kinds to collaborate with each other and other educational groups in your area to make this a special day. Use their toolkit ideas to promote your program.

On your mark, get set… READ! Summer reading manuals

On Your Mark Get Set Read - Summer Reading Campaign

The 2016 Collaborative Summer Reading Program Manuals are here! If you haven't received yours yet, it will be in the mail soon. Along with your manual you will be receiving your official CSLP promotional items catalog. Public libraries, please schedule a visit with your local school librarian to start a partnership for promoting your summer reading program.

You may start placing your orders for CSLP items on October 1st. To ensure that you will receive all of the items in the quantities you want, you are highly encouraged to order early. No items will ship until after January 2016 and you will not be billed until items ship.

*Reminder: If you picked up your manual at the SDLA Annual Conference, your DVDs will be mailed to you separately.

To receive your manual for free you must have completed the 2015 Public Library Survey and the online summer reading program evaluation by their respective deadlines. Please contact Jasmine Rockwell at jasmine.rockwell@state.sd.us if you have any questions about the 2016 CSLP Manual and accompanying catalog.
