FOR LIBRARIANS: Grants - Gates Library Foundation

The Staying Connected Grant Program
Up-Grades or Replacement of Computing Equipment: Phase I -- Ends December 31, 2006

Phase I offers funding to replace or up-grade equipment received from the Gates Foundation in previous Gates Awards. Libraries can choose to replace these computers with new computers or to purchase additional memory or other upgrades as determined necessary by the local library. For those libraries that received routers and other additional equipment in the original grant, these are also eligible for replacement or upgrade under this program. Phase I applications will be considered at quarterly State Library Board meetings. Grants will be awarded based on grant fund availability and a signed commitment regarding local matching funds. The funding formula will be:

Gates Grant
State Match Funds
Local Match Funds
_
34% +
33% +
33% =
Grant Total

Phase one is now complete.

All funds requested in Phase I must be expended by December 31, 2006. Acceptance of grant funds will obligate the local library to agree to comply with record keeping requirements, conduct patron surveys, and assure that all equipment received through this grant will be used for patron access to the internet. Sample surveys and the grant report forms will be found on-line.
