FOR LIBRARIANS: Grants - Gates Library Foundation

The Staying Connected Grant Program
Up-Grades or Replacement of Computing Equipment: Phase II
January 1, 2007 -- December 31, 2007

Phase II will provide an opportunity for all libraries who did not participate in Phase I to complete their upgrades. Funds remaining after all eligible libraries have completed their upgrades, will be available for distribution for increased access and connectivity. The funding formula stated in Phase I will apply. Libraries who received grants in Phase I may reapply for additional technological upgrades. Upgrades may include additional public access computers, upgrades of access speed, wireless internet, additional memory, networking, upgraded software, technical assistance for installing new hardware or software, etc.

All funds requested in Phase II must be expended by December 31, 2007. Acceptance of grant funds will obligate the local library to agree to comply with record keeping requirements, conduct patron surveys, and assure that all equipment received through this grant will be used for patron access to the internet. Sample surveys and the grant report forms will be found on-line.

Applications will be reviewed at each State Library Board meeting. The next meeting is scheduled for October 17, 2007. Applications for review must be received by October 5, 2007.
