Library Training Institute 2009

WHAT you will accomplish:
Public library staff and trustees who attend the Library Training Institute will learn the basic skills necessary to run an effective public library in a small or medium-sized, South Dakota community. In addition, they will join a statewide network of library practitioners working throughout the state.

Participants will earn a minimum of 162 contact hours over a 4-year period, culminating in a Public Library Management Certificate. Students attending Institute will earn 2 college credits each year from Northern State University.


WHO the curriculum focuses on: Interested staff from larger public libraries are accepted on a space-available basis.

WHERE to go:
Northern State University, Aberdeen. All classes are held in either the student union building or the Beulah Williams Library. Institute participants stay in campus dorms and dine at campus food service facilities.
