An Introduction to the SD State Library Statewide Electronic Resources
"This will be a hands-on introduction to the Statewide Electronic Resources provided for your patrons by the South Dakota State Library. You will have an opportunity to learn about each resource, hear examples of how you can use it to help your patrons and learn how these resources expand your public library’s collections. Workshops are scheduled for October 2008." - Dewey Decimal Training Courses
OCLC is developing an online set of DDC training materials focused on the needs of experienced librarians who need Dewey application training. The materials will include a basic course on the structure and use of the DDC, plus a series of short modules based on special topics (including a general overview).
The course materials will be available on the Dewey web site at no charge. The presentations and exercises assume the availability of the latest version of the DDC database (i.e., WebDewey), and a professor, trainer, and/or experienced Dewey user for offering explanations and fielding questions. If you have questions as you go through the training please contact Colleen Kirby, South Dakota State Library, colleen.kirby@state.sd.us or 1-800-423-6665. You can access the training materials at OCLC's website. - Library Training Institute 2008
Coordinated by the South Dakota State Library, the Library Traning Institute is a four-year program of continuing education for library practitioners, support staff and trustees of small public libraries.
