Hello South Dakota Librarians! Welcome to the Youth Services Librarians page. This page is designed to assist you with your very important jobs in serving South Dakota's youth. My name is Jasmine Rockwell and I am the Children's Services Coordinator here at the South Dakota State Library. My role is to serve as an advocate for you and for the youth you serve. Among other things, I am charged with the mission of providing continuing education opportunities for South Dakota youth services librarians. I am eager to hear about the types of youth services training opportunities that you would like to see offered by the South Dakota State Library. On this page, you will find links to help you with your summer reading programming. There are links to a South Dakota Performer Database and to Jumpstart. The database is a listing of performers who are interested in performing at South Dakota state libraries and schools during the summer and in some cases throughout the year. The Jumpstart program is an opportunity for librarians to come together and plan for the summer reading program season. Check out the Jumpstart Home Page to find the notes from the Jumpstart sessions and to get some great summer reading ideas.
If you need to find a good book to satisfy the reading needs of your young patrons, look no further than the Booklists page. The Booklists page will provide you with links to electronic reader's advisory sites and links to booklists of recommended reading for children and young adults. Check this page out often! We are always adding new booklists.
There are now some new links to Youth Services Programming Resources in both print and electronic formats! Please be sure to check them out.
