Applying for a Citizen SD State Library Card: FAQs -- Application

What does my library card do for me?: As a citizen of South Dakota, your library card will allow you access to State Library electronic resources. Electronic resources do include Genealogy databases and research articles.
How do I get a library card?: Fill out the form below and click on the submit button. Your request will be processed as soon as it is received.
What is my password for at home access?: Your password is your last name (e.g. Smith).
What can I find in the databases?: You can find full text magazines, South Dakota newspapers, genealogy information, practice tests, and online books.
Where can I access the databases?: You can access the databases from inside any school, library or academic institution in SD, or at home with a SDLN member library card or a SD State Library card. A full listing of the databases can be found at http://www.sdstatelibrary.com/databases/complete.htm.
