SWIM Advisory Council Meeting
The SWIM Advisory Council, whose purpose is to direct the development of a regional library education scholarship grant program, will meet at the Bozeman Public Library's meeting room on Thursday, September 3, 2009 from 9:30 a.m. — 3 p.m. The Bozeman Public Library is located at 626 East Main Street in downtown Bozeman, Mont.
It is the initial meeting of the 16 member group. Group members represent the four states — South Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana — that jointly received the $730,659 grant as part of the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) “Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program.” The objective of the three-year grant, known as SWIM, is to recruit and provide IMLS-funded scholarships to educate 50 librarians and school library media specialists from throughout the region to work in rural communities.
Through its statewide programs, the South Dakota State Library empowers South Dakotans; enhances learning in families and communities; builds 21st Century skills; and provides opportunities for civic participation. For more information about the SWIM grant, please visit SWIM (Become a Librarian) Grant Information or contact Colleen Kirby, Continuing Education Coordinator at the South Dakota State Library at (605) 773-3131.
The public is invited to attend the meeting. For more information, contact Sara Groves, Marketing and Communications Coordinator, at (406) 444-3115 or via e-mail at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
