Dream Big Read
Shine the light on summer reading with this year's Jump Start workshops! Jasmine Rockwell and Karen Duenwald (SD State Library), Becky Pittenger (Yankton Community Library), and Ali Bruinsma (Brookings Public Library) will once again be traveling the state bringing you ideas to “jump start” your summer reading program! Choose from one of five locations.
Back by popular demand: The stars are just the beginning of “big dreams” and “owning the night” when the SD Discovery Center (SDDC) gets involved. Stay a little longer at your Summer Reading Program training to experience exciting resources from SDDC & NASA that can help you pull in more kid about your programs. Learn how to link up with NASA scientists — live! Make your own star chart and view the night sky in SDDC brand new portable planetarium. Plus each participating library will get an Earth, Moon & Stars Great Explorations in Math & Science activity guide. Each participant who attends both the morning and afternoon sessions will receive a $50 stipend.
Everyone should bring an example craft or activity to share with the group. You can use the manual or something you've done in the past at your library! Don't have a manual? Contact Jasmine Rockwell
for more information.
No verbal or mail-in registrations will be accepted. Registration deadline is February 17, 2011 (extended for Spearfish).
