What does my library card do for me?: As a citizen of South Dakota, your library card will allow you access to State Library electronic resources. Electronic resources do include Genealogy databases and research articles.
How do I get a library card?: Fill out the form below and click on the submit button. Your request will be processed within 2 business days. If you do not receive your card in the mail within two weeks, please contact the State Library directly at 605-773-3131 or 1-800-423-6665 (SD ONLY) or by email .
What is my password for at home access?: Your password is your last name (e.g. Smith).
What can I find in the databases?: You can find full text magazines, South Dakota newspapers, genealogy information, practice tests, and online books.
Where can I access the databases?: You can access the databases from inside any school, library or academic institution in SD, or at home with a SDLN member library card or a SD State Library card. A full listing of the online databases is available.
