Textbooks can be ordered in Braille and/or large print for K-12 education programs.

Educational Materials New

SD ALS has a large variety of materials, tools and resources for the blind and low vision community. Many of these items are provided through the American Printing House for the Blind. These resources include accessible textbooks, tactile literacy tools, outreach services and tools for teachers.

SD ALS Reading Programs

Winter and Summer reading programs are hosted annually for participants aged birth to 19. Participants read at least 20 minutes every day during the program, logging their times in reading charts. Completed charts are returned at the end of the program to be eligble for prizes.
