Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) empowers libraries to foster community, and collaborates with libraries across the US to create a literacy based program that is enjoyable for all ages, provide a reproducible program with a unified theme, share resources and offer professional support.

South Dakota State Fair : 2023 State Fair, Aug. 31-Sept. 4
The Read and Win program partners with school and public libraries across the state to promote reading and honor achievement in reading.

WhoFi Community Planner helps record and track library programs. This tool is free and available to all South Dakota public libraries regardless of whether you are using the WhoFi wireless session counter.

Count every attendee every time they attend.

Example:

• a book club that meets eight times = eight programs.
• Adults who attend Pre-K programs are counted in the Early Literacy attendance.

Count all programs, whether held on- or off-site, that are sponsored or co-sponsored by the library. Count all attendees at a program under the targeted age group of the program. Count each event in a series as a program.

• Early Literacy (Birth to Pre-K)
• Children (Kindergarten to age 11)
• Teen (12 to 18)
• Adult (19+)
• General Interest (All-Ages)

HOW TO COUNT:

• Count everyone who attends an event or activity every time they attend.
• Count all attendees at a program under the targeted age group of the program. Example: Adults who attend pre-K programs are counted in Early Literacy attendance.
• Count both in-library and off-site programs that are sponsored by the library.

GENERAL INTEREST age category: Use for events that are appropriate for any age group or multiple age groups. If the target audience is children or young adults, then report all attendees (or views) in one of the youth categories rather than in General Interest.

IN-PERSON programs: An event which introduces the group attending to any of the broad range of library services or activities or which directly provides information to participants.

LIVE VIRTUAL programs: Programs that are conducted via web conferencing or webinar platform such as Facebook, YouTube, Zoom, during which a staff member (or other party sponsored by the library) is presenting to or interacting with an audience in real time. Count each participant device connected to a virtual program as a single attendee. Exclude views that occur after the session has ended. (If recording is made available record views under recorded programs.)

RECORDED programs: Video or audio recordings created by a library staff person (or other party sponsored by the library) and posted to a video or audio hosting platform for the audience to view or listen to on-demand.

SELF-DIRECTED ACTIVITY programs: Activities prepared by library staff that could be delivered to participants without expectation of staff interaction to complete the activity. Examples include: Take & make craft bags, story walks, social media challenges.
