The State Library hosts a Google Calendar of events including training webinars hosted by SDSL staff, database vendors and other library-related events.
Collect + Connect Meet-ups
Hosted monthly via Zoom, the SDSL facilitates monthly chats for school, public, and academic libraries. These are informal chats to learn from colleagues and make connections.
SDSL Board Meetings
Authorized by Chapter 14-1 of the South Dakota Codified Laws, the SDSL Board directs State Library operation and assists and coordinates the other libraries throughout the state in providing services to the public.

Join us this winter for an online course focusing on the second strand of the SD Library Standards - Information Literacy. This is a professional development opportunity for librarians and all other educators.

Prep for Summer Reading workshops held across South Dakota during February/March.
Annual Surveys
Every year the State Library fields two statistical surveys; collecting financial, service data, and more from public, school, and combo libraries.
Regional Library Trainings
Continuing education opportunity for library directors and staff, in-person and online in select locations across South Dakota.
Library Training Institute
Spend a week in the dorms with fellow library professionals in June.
SDSL Electronic Resources for Teachers Course
This 2-week course is designed for K-12 teachers as an introduction to the electronic resources provided by the South Dakota State Library. Participants will discover the benefits of the SDSL Electronic Resources and how to incorporate them into their lessons.
ExCITE! Library Methods Course
Join us for this annual online professional development opportunity in July in which we will focus on Civic and Ethical Literacy, which is the third strand of the SD Library Standards.
SDLA Annual Conference
Each fall SDLA holds its annual conference with educational training sessions, keynotes, and events.
