MARBLED MUGS
MATERIALS
- towel or table cloth
- ceramic mugs, white or black
- large bowl
- plastic bags
- water
- gloves (optional)
- nail polish (not quick drying)
- toothpicks
- polish remover
- q-tips, cotton balls
- Mod Podge® (dishwasher safe)
- craft brush
- Cricut vinyl cutouts: fun words or silhouettes (optional)
Personalize a mug with a marbled ocean or coastline scene! Participants dip their mugs into a mixture of water and nail polish to get the marbled effect. Provide a variety of nail polish colors to allow for more variation. Each mug is unique, and they are quick and easy to make. You can also create take-and-make bags that each include a mug and marbling instructions for doing it at home. Suggested runtime: 45 min.

INSTRUCTIONS
- Prep area to have all supplies ready — this can be a fast project
- Line the bowl with plastic bag to help with clean up
- Start with water in bowl, deep enough to dip mugs at desired depth
- Spread nail polish to cover surface of water
- Use more than one color if desired; swirl in designs with toothpicks
- Dip mug into water
- Clumps in the design can be fixed with toothpicks before drying
- If design did not turn out, use cotton ball and polish remover to fix a spot (any clumping) or clean up and start over
- Allow mug design to dry overnight
- Use craft brush to spread a coat of dishwasher safe Mod Podge®
