The School Libraries Survey, fielded every spring, tracks trends and changes in South Dakota school libraries. The survey supports statewide resources, programs like ExCITE! and interlibrary loan services. It provides data for comparison across districts and over time. The survey also informs the annual School Libraries Facts & Stats, a snapshot of statewide library data.

Survey Information:

  • The School Library Survey is conducted annually from March 1 through the first week of May (unless otherwise noted).
  • We request a separate survey from each school library in the district or system; estimates (such as for circulation) are acceptable.
  • Survey results are available to librarians and administrators through reports on this webpage or by contacting the SDSL Data Coordinator.
